Art Movement Project

The art movement I chose was surrealism.  This project was made from color pencils and images of my hands and head in black and white. I call it A Sea of Options. I made the body parts black and white because it shows the stress of finishing up college and entering the real world, not knowing what the future has in store for you. It could very easily start out a rough ride for a new college grad. At the same time, there is a colorful beach with water in the background to symbolize optimism and new beginnings. The ocean also symbolizes endless possibilities, or a "sea" or options. This portrays a very real feeling for me.

Small Grid...

I was doing homework in the Brevard game room tonight for about 4 hours at this table, and I couldn't stop thinking about what a HORRIBLE picture would come from drawing on a grid this size... -_- Not ideal.

Projects In This Class

After completing our first two projects in this class, I have a satisfying feeling, looking back on it. To be honest, I am looking forward to completing more. Even though they are pretty time consuming, I feel like any piece of memorable art you create will require a deal of effort and commitment. I feel the two projects I have created so far in this class were important to me, even though they were relatively amateur quality. I do consider both pieces unique. I have never created a flip book or a pixelated piece of art. It was a neat experience. It makes me want to experiment with them again in the future! ...Probably after the semester is over though, when I have more time. :)
